Euro vs American Dobermans
For years, there has been controversy about the differences between American and European bred Dobermans. But it all boils down to personal preferences... The Doberman was originally created by Louis Dobermann in 1870, and was bred with the main intention to protect a most hated tax collector. Now the Doberman is one of the most loyal, loving and protective dogs a family can have. These dogs have an amazing breed history, and were definitely put to the test with all their uses for our country. They also served as war dogs in the North Pacific, saving soldiers lives as protection dogs and police dogs.
Now there are American and European bloodlines, with some differences in styles and drive differences. While the American is more laid back, more slender in body style and smaller in stature vs the European which is larger, wider and bigger in stature with a more intense working drive. Color is also different, with the black and rust the American bred will be a lighter tan color vs a dark red rust color for the European bred dogs.
